Albemarle Fire Marshal issues burn ban through Sunday

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – Open-air burning is banned in Albemarle County through 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office announced the ban in a news release published Thursday, April 16. The Fire Marshal’s Office said the ban was announced in response to the National Weather Service’s elevated fire risk alert.

“During the burn ban, all open-air burning is prohibited,” according to the news release. “Open-air burning is the burning of any matter in such a manner that the products resulting from combustion are emitted directly into the atmosphere without passing through a stack, duct, or chimney.”…
