On Tuesday night, Madison County Board of Supervisors lifted the county fire prohibition that had been enacted April 14, 2026. Staff said recent rainfall, higher humidity, and spring growth had improved conditions enough to recommend rescinding the restriction, though drought concerns have not fully disappeared.
Deputy County Administrator Brian Gordon, who also serves as director of emergency management, reminds the public that all should check conditions before starting a fire outdoor.
County staff said emergency alerts about the prohibition are shared through the county website, media outlets, and the Hyper-Reach notification system.
