HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Harrisonburg has been recognized with a spot on Forbes’ list of “Best Places To Retire In 2026.”
In the report published Friday, Forbes said it compared almost 1,000 places in the United States when selecting its top 25, considering criteria such as housing costs, taxes, healthcare, natural hazard risk and more. Of the 25 places included on the list, Harrisonburg is one of two cities from Virginia that are recognized, securing a spot alongside Virginia Beach.
Citing pros and cons for Harrisonburg, Forbes called the Friendly City a “charming Shenandoah Valley college town” that’s home to James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University with a low rate of serious crimes and proximity to Washington D.C.
