Cats with feline leukemia virus seek forever homes at the CASPCA

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Feline leukemia virus can be transmitted through saliva, shared food bowls, or other forms of contact between cats. It can weaken their immune system, but they can still be healthy and live happy lives outside of the shelter.

Pets with special care needs often sit in shelters longer. At the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, staff say connecting those pets with loving homes can make a big impact in their lives.

“We have two fantastic cats in here, Tungsten and Girly Girl. They are both positive for something called feline leukemia virus,” said Rachel Perez-Baum, shelter veterinarian at CASPCA…
