CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Fluvanna SPCA is asking for community support as it cares for around 30 dogs this spring.
“Right now we have about 30 dogs here in our population in our shelter system, which is a little bit higher than we’re used to, especially for this time of year,” said Zach Boerboom, director of the Fluvanna SPCA. “It’s nothing that we can’t handle, we’re very happy that we’re able to help out. But 30 dogs is 30 dogs. So it takes up a lot of our staff time, it takes up a lot of resources, and dogs eat a lot of food.”
The shelter is looking for donations of Purina dog and puppy chow, as well as Purina cat and kitten chow, to support the pets in its care. Boerboom said they have already seen deliveries of supplies at their front door from the community, and that the support can go a long way…
