MARION COUNTY, Tenn. — Motorists traveling through Marion County next week should prepare for delays on one of our viewing area’s busiest interstate crossings.
TDOT says contract crews will conduct a routine inspection of the Holman J. Walker Bridge, which carries Interstate 24 over the Tennessee River near the Marion County rest area. The work is expected to take about five days.
The inspection requires workers to get hands-on access to specific steel components of the bridge, meaning lane closures will be necessary throughout the week.
Here’s what drivers can expect:
- June 22-25: The right lane and shoulder of I-24 East will be closed daily from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for the full length of the bridge.
- June 26: The right lane and shoulder of I-24 West will be closed from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for the full length of the bridge.
TDOT says specialized equipment will be used during the inspection to access parts of the structure that cannot be reached during a standard visual review…
