CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga’s long-term effort to curb sewage overflows and protect area waterways is taking shape through a major infrastructure project designed to capture and store excess wastewater during heavy rain.
The Environmental and Economic Infrastructure Improvements (e2i2) Project is part of the broader Clear Chattanooga initiative following the U.S. EPA-mandated Consent Decree.
The program is part of the city’s strategy to reduce sanitary sewer overflows, protecting waterways including South Chickamauga Creek and the Tennessee River, while supporting sustainable growth.
