CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Hamilton County students headed back to class Tuesday with a new approach to technology in elementary school classrooms.
The district has ended one-to-one Chromebook assignments for elementary students as it updates its policies to comply with a new Tennessee law aimed at reducing screen time for younger children.
The new policy states that classroom technology should be “intentional, developmentally appropriate” and should never replace direct instruction, reading, writing, math, hands-on learning, classroom discussion or meaningful interaction between teachers and students.
