Lee University will host the annual Honor Choir event on February 9-10, welcoming over 400 high school students from 27 schools. These students, selected by their choral directors, will perform in a concert at the Conn Center on February 10. The concert, titled ‘Carry the Light’, will be led by Dr. Cameron Weatherford of Lee University and Dr. Jeff Johnson of the University of Kentucky. The Lee University Chorale will also perform, under the direction of Dr. William Green, Dean of the School of Music.

The concert’s theme, ‘Carry the Light’, emphasizes the importance of being a positive influence. The program includes various pieces such as Gibson’s ‘This Little Light of Mine’ and Kirchner’s ‘Cornerstone’, and will end with all choirs performing Schmidt’s ‘Lead Me On’.

Dr. Weatherford, a Lee’s School of Music faculty member since 2021, will lead the Treble Choir and the 11th–12th grade choir. He has received several awards in conducting and education and holds degrees from the University of Kentucky, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Louisiana College.
