(WJHL) – On Saturday, three area girls soccer squads punched their tickets to the TSSAA quarterfinals in Chattanooga.
In Johnson City, Science Hill was locked in a Region 1-3A sectional battle with Powell. The Hilltoppers took an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from Brenna Overbay, but by the second half, the Panthers had tied the match, 2-2.
Overbay came through with the go-ahead tally with about ten minutes remaining to secure the victory, 3-2.
Second-half rally powers Tennessee to win over Alabama
Science Hill will play Wednesday in the Class 3A quarterfinals.
Greeneville earned its tenth-consecutive spot in the state tournament, as they held off Seymour in a Region 1-2A sectional, 2-1. Abigail Adkins scored both of the Greene Devils’ tallies.
GHS will play in the Class 2A quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Tennessee High will also make the trip to Chattanooga for the Class 2A state tournament, after defeating Anderson County on the road, 2-1.
