On Monday, November 11, the Whitfield County Fire Department awarded 15-year-old José Fernando Espinoza the Meritorious Civilian Award for Bravery in recognition of his courageous actions during a devastating house fire on October 19. Espinoza’s bravery saved the lives of his grandparents, who were trapped inside their burning home.
