KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A famous landmark in Kingsport collapsed on Saturday morning during its relocation to a new permanent site.
“Big John,” the giant Native American statue that topped Pratt’s BBQ on Stone Drive, is now in pieces. The statue had been standing in Kingsport since the 1970s.

Jonathan Pratt, whose family owned Pratt’s BBQ before it closed, said that the statue lacked sufficient internal support to endure the move.
Videos caught on Champion Chevrolet GMC Kingsport’s camera show the structure collapsing during the move.
