Hixson incident results in new Tennessee law giving cities power to regulate sober houses

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A shooting incident near Hixson High School last year has led to the passage of a new state law giving communities more power to regulate sober living homes.

This past week, state lawmakers passed House Bill 783, sponsored by Rep. Greg Martin (R-Hamilton County), with a companion bill in the Senate sponsored by Sen. Bo Watson (R-Chattanooga).
