Crews worked to get the power back on for everyone.

The Walker County Animal Shelter in Chickamauga is urgently asking for help after a surge in incoming animals has overwhelmed their capacity. The shelter reports that over the past week, they have taken in 36 new animals while only two found their forever homes. According to shelter officials, animals have arrived at a rate 18 times faster than they can be adopted out. All kennels are currently full. Chattooga County deputies responded to an attempted contraband drop near Hays State Prison early Saturday morning, leading to a high-speed chase and a serious crash. At approximately 7:00 a.m., Corporal Jared Wilks was alerted to suspicious activity near Hays State Prison. When he stopped a vehicle from out of county, the nervous driver suddenly sped away, sparking a pursuit north on Highway 27 through Trion. The suspect vehicle made a sudden U-turn near Dixie Fibers and headed southbound on Highway 27. During the chase, the fleeing driver ran a red light at Highway 27 and Central Avenue, colliding with another vehicle. The driver of the struck vehicle was transported to the emergency room with injuries. The fleeing driver and passenger were also taken into custody and transported for medical care. Authorities say charges are pending, including serious injury by motor vehicle. Both suspects appear to be on probation from the metro Atlanta area…
