Chattanooga man charged with theft and vandalism at former ammunition plant

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Chattanooga man is facing several charges after authorities say they caught him red-handed stealing from the former Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant.

On Wednesday afternoon, a Hamilton County detective noticed an open gate at the site on Hickory Valley Road, which has been plagued by unlawful entries since 2024, according to a release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
