Chattanooga police officer charged with DUI after two-vehicle crashes while off duty

Chattanooga, TN – An off-duty Chattanooga Police Department officer is under investigation following two separate DUI-related crashes that occurred late Saturday night, according to authorities. Officer Mackenzie Pierre, a Neighborhood Policing Officer with the CPD since 2019, now faces multiple charges stemming from the incidents.

The crashes occurred on June 1, 2025, shortly before midnight. Chattanooga Police responded first to a collision in the 4200 block of Bonny Oaks Drive and then to a second, related crash in the 4300 block of Highway 58. Investigators say the events unfolded after Officer Pierre, driving a blue SUV, ran a red light and struck a stationary vehicle waiting at the signal on Bonny Oaks Drive.

The driver of the struck vehicle pursued Pierre’s SUV along Bonny Oaks Drive. As Pierre attempted to cross Highway 58 to merge onto Highway 153 North, his vehicle was hit on the passenger side by a car traveling westbound on Highway 58.
