The Chattanooga Lookouts’ new stadium project is still on schedule, with completion expected next year.
The latest update presented on Thursday also revealed plans for a nearby apartment complex, which will feature about 290 units.
Tempered glass will be a feature of those apartments, to prevent problems from stray baseballs, according to Master Developer Jim Irwin of New City LLC, as they are located in the stadium’s home run territory.
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp has previously voiced concerns regarding the project’s financial viability.
He warned that the revenue from the special tax designation area might not cover the debt service on the bonds.
It is our strong recommendation that we begin to set aside hotel, motel tax for what is likely to be years of debt service shortfalls,’ Wamp said.
