Chattanooga Zoo wants your wild ideas for its 10-year plan

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Zoo is calling on their visitors to help shape its future with a new 10-year master plan.

Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts on potential new species, themed sections, and other zoo features through a short survey.

The zoo is considering new sections like an Australian habitat, an aviary, or a nocturnal animal house. Possible new residents could include black bears, hyenas, or kangaroos.

Our previous master plan came to fruition when we opened The Cape of Africa last summer,’ Darde Long, president and CEO of Chattanooga Zoo. ‘I think Chattanoogans and tourists alike have really enjoyed connecting with fascinating African species like warthogs, giraffes, Aldabra tortoises and more in our new section, and now it’s time to decide what’s next. We really want to hear from the community and give everyone a chance to shape the future of their Zoo!

Participants in the survey will be entered into a drawing for a free annual membership…
