Yesterday morning, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) joined hands with community members and various officials to mark a decade since the tragic terrorist attack that shook Chattanooga. Sheriff Austin Garrett, alongside fellow officers, first responders, military personnel, and residents, gathered at the Fallen Five Memorial to honor the lives of the servicemen lost on that day back in 2015.
During the remembrance event, emotional speeches recapped the unity and bravery that characterized the local community’s response to the surprise attack at the Naval Reserve Center. According to a post on HCSO’s Facebook page, personal stories and memories were shared that highlighted the valor of both the fallen and the survivors. Participants in the day’s events included elected officials and local law enforcement, acknowledging the impact of the attack which claimed Marine Sergeant Carson Holmquist, Navy Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Randall Smith, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan, Marine Lance Corporal Squire “Skip” Wells, and Marine Staff Sergeant David Wyatt’s lives…
