Hamilton County School Board clarifies teacher bonus timeline as DEI debate intensifies

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Debate continued at Thursday’s Hamilton County School Board meeting amid ongoing conversations about DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) programs in schools.

Board members also got a clearer timeline of when teachers can expect to see bonuses.

During public comment, one woman spoke at length about what she described as her concerns for students.

“I do not believe DEI is appropriate for our schools as I find it biased, and discriminatory toward white students, creating unfairness and racism among all students. I believe all students should be treated equally. As a homeowner in Chattanooga for 25 years paying property and sales taxes, I am concerned about how my tax dollars are being used.”…
