CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — As Chattanooga city council members discussed first responder raises Tuesday, council members Jenny Hill and Marvene Noel got into a back-and-forth over the distribution of resources between city districts.
The interaction happened during a debate over raising city property taxes in order to afford these raises.
Hill: “District 8, under Mayor Kelly, has not suffered. District 8 is getting a tremendous amount of resources.”
Noel: “District 8 was never allowed to have use of those taxes until Mayor Kelley decided that this is the way it was going to go… so we still are the red headed step child.”…
