Knoxville Commuters Brace for Nightly I-75 Lane Closures in Bradley and McMinn Counties Due to Resurfacing Work

For Knoxville commuters dreaming of a smooth ride down I-75, it might be time to temper expectations. Ongoing resurfacing work is tightening the squeeze on traffic in Bradley and McMinn Counties. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has flagged that starting from last night, these renovations are taking place nightly, Sunday through Friday, from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, and are set to run until the witching hour on October 31, as reported by TDOT.

Travelers should expect the closures to span from mile marker 31 to mile marker 39. However, the folks at TDOT ensure that one lane will remain open in each direction at all times. For those familiar with the ins and outs of I-75, it’s worth noting that exit ramps at Exit 36 will also face intermittent closures as part of this project, so alternative routes may be the order of the day – or night, rather.

Drivers are also reminded that patience is paramount. Delays are anticipated, and caution is urged when traversing through the construction zone. The nature of the work is subject to the whims of the weather.
