Chattanooga Commuters Brace for Nightly SR-8 Roadwork and Lane Closures from July 27

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will begin road work on State Route 8 on Sunday. The work will take place between Cherokee Boulevard and Dayton Boulevard, covering the area from Frazier Avenue to Signal Mountain Boulevard. Crews will work nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to avoid daytime traffic, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

A $1.8 million road project is underway in collaboration with the City of Chattanooga and the City of Red Bank. The plan involves converting a four-lane road into a two-lane road with a center turn lane, on-street parking, and a bike lane. The project aims to improve safety and accessibility and is expected to be completed by October 31.
