CARTA awarded federal funding for new, all-electric shuttles in support of clean emissions

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) announced Tuesday that they have been awarded federal funding for new, all-electric shuttles in support of cleaner emissions.

CARTA says they received $1,200,000 in federal funding through the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program.

With an additional required 20% local match from the City of Chattanooga, this brings the total investment to $1.5 million to support the purchase of three new all-electric shuttle vehicles…
