Chattanooga, TN – On July 29, 2025, the Chattanooga Police Department’s Fugitive Unit, with assistance from the Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested 49-year-old LaJeffery Sparks in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on Fagan Street in 2024.
Sparks is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Following his arrest, he was removed from the TBI’s Most Wanted list and booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
The charges stem from a shooting on October 5, 2024. Officers responded just after midnight to a call about a person shot in the 4100 block of Fagan Street.
