Rural volunteer fire departments in Tennessee call for help amid staffing shortages

BLEDSOE COUNTY, Tenn. — Volunteer fire departments in our viewing area are asking for help after reports that many are short-staffed.

The departments say the shortage is mainly affecting squads serving rural areas like Bledsoe, Marion, and Sequatchie County.

Volunteer fire departments and rescue squads serving Hamilton, Monroe, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, Bledsoe, Sequatchie, and Marion County got over $1 million dollars in total grants Tuesday.
