Severe Storms Cause Flash Flooding and Evacuations in Catoosa County
CATOOSA COUNTY, GA – Neighbors to our east faced a dangerous night Tuesday as severe storms brought heavy rain and flash flooding to Catoosa County, forcing dozens of residents from their homes.
Several inches of rain fell in a short span, overwhelming drainage systems and flooding residential areas — particularly in Fort Oglethorpe. The Catoosa County Fire Department activated all personnel, including specialized swift water rescue teams, to evacuate residents from two apartment complexes.
At The Crossings apartments on Fant Drive, water rose to waist-deep levels, prompting the rescue of about 80 residents from first-floor units. Another 35 residents were evacuated from the nearby Fountain Brooks apartments on Cross Street. No injuries were reported…
