Chattanooga police officers rescued multiple people stranded during severe flash flooding on August 12, according to the department.

Chattanooga, TN – Officials said the sudden flooding left some drivers trapped in rising waters, prompting officers to step in to bring them to safety.

Sergeant Dillingham was among those who assisted, helping get stranded motorists to higher ground. Two patrol vehicles were lost in the process, but the department said it was a necessary trade to ensure public safety.

Officer Dyess carried a stranded motorist across the interstate to safety, while Officer Montana helped several people and a dog from their vehicles, also carrying luggage and guiding them to dry ground…
