Hamilton County commissioner says sales tax could capture tourism money for teachers

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Hamilton County hit a record $1.8 billion in visitor spending last year, according to a new report.

Now, one commissioner says he want to capture some of those tourism dollars through a sales tax, and use it give teachers a raise.

In 2024, the county received $1,805,792,800 in visitor spending, according to a release from the Chattanooga Tourism Company.
