CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga needs a little more money and a little more time before it’s going to be back open for pedestrians.
That’s according to a resolution Chattanooga’s City Council will vote on at their Tuesday meeting.
The historic and popular walking bridge linking Chattanooga’s downtown and its North Shore closed back in January for an estimated 18 months.
Now, according to a resolution before the council, that timeline needs to be pushed back and the cost needs to be bumped up due to “unforeseen structural street repairs, light fixture shades and new CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras.
