Chattanooga family fears for father’s care as VA halts programs amid shutdown

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — As we enter the 3rd day of the government shutdown, a Chattanooga family of veterans says they’re growing more worried about their father who just had his leg amputated.

They tell us he’s been discharged back home as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has stopped several of their programs due to the shutdown.

“I’ve already died twice. Back on Christmas I died and I fell down. In the back stairwell. Crashed in my door and blacked out.”…
