CLEVELAND, Tenn. — A pony rescued from a kill pen found safety this week after a five-day effort by a rehabilitative ranch and the horse community in Cleveland.
The small horse had recently been rescued by a local owner but escaped due to fear, making him difficult to catch.
“While we are immensely relieved that he is safe, this situation is a sobering reminder of the education and specialized knowledge required for horse ownership,” Mending Arrow Ranch said in a Facebook post.
Over the course of five days, a dedicated team worked tirelessly to bring the frightened pony into the safety of the ranch. The effort was made possible in part by a generous landowner who allowed the team to camp on her property while caring for the animal.
“Her kindness and willingness to help made this entire rescue possible,” the ranch said. “We are incredibly proud that we were able to pool our resources and expertise to ensure this frightened pony’s safety.
Now in the care of Mending Arrow Ranch, the pony is getting professional rehabilitation and the quiet, patient attention he needs to heal from his trauma…
