CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — The Chattanooga Mocs head to the Birmingham suburbs Saturday to face Samford in what will be the 50th meeting in a rivalry that stretches back to 1906. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Hanna Stadium.
The series between the Mocs and Bulldogs is tied for the third-longest in Chattanooga history.
Chattanooga leads the all-time series 34-12-3, including five straight wins in Birmingham and 12-3 in Southern Conference matchups. The first meeting, on Nov. 3, 1906, ended in a 63-0 loss for Chattanooga.
The Mocs enter Saturday with a 3-4 overall record and 2-1 in SoCon play. Chattanooga ranks sixth nationally in red zone offense at 94.4 percent and has improved its offensive line play after allowing only four sacks over the last five games. Quarterback Camden Orth had a career-best 374 total yards in the Mocs’ comeback win over ETSU last week, earning TSWA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
