Chattanooga Residents: New Area-Based Brush Collection Schedule Begins November 3

The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works has announced a new plan to address delays in brush collection. These delays are due to high seasonal demand, recent software changes, and staffing shortages. Starting Monday, November 3, 2025, the city will move from an individual request system to an area-based collection system.

Chattanooga will be divided into four areas. Each area will have a scheduled week for brush and bulk trash collection. For example, Area 1, which includes Lookout Valley, St. Elmo, and Alton Park, will be collected from November 3 to November 7. Other areas, including North Chattanooga, Hixson, Brainerd, East Chattanooga, East Brainerd, and Highway 58, will be scheduled in the following weeks.

Residents should keep brush, bulk trash, bagged yard waste, and leaves separate, as each is collected by different trucks. The city will complete all existing service requests. New requests will be handled during the area sweeps. Collection dates may change due to holidays. There will be no collections on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day…
