CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — With a potential lapse in federal food assistance starting November 1, several local restaurants are stepping up to help families who rely on SNAP benefits put meals on the table.
The federal government has yet to approve new funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP, leaving millions of Americans at risk of losing benefits this weekend if a deal is not reached.
