CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A federal judge has sentenced an East Ridge man once accused of hiding his identity as a Bosnian war crimes suspect to probation in a long-running immigration fraud case.
Court documents show 53-year-old Sead Miljkovic, who also went by the name Sead Dukic, received a sentence of probation after being found guilty earlier this year of falsifying information on U.S. passport applications.
Prosecutors said Miljkovic used a false name and birth date when applying for refugee status in the late 1990s and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen under that name. He was arrested in East Ridge in 2023 following a federal investigation.
Prosecutors later accused Miljkovic of taking part in acts of torture during the Bosnian war three decades ago. A Chattanooga jury acquitted him of those charges in June.
In a sentencing memorandum, defense attorneys described Miljkovic as a longtime East Ridge resident, husband, and father who has held steady jobs as a welder and mechanic. They asked the court for leniency, noting that the guideline range called for no prison time…
