NOVONIX says plant by Enterprise South will be eco-friendly, but some still have doubts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The NOVONIX Riverside facility in downtown Chattanooga is set to be the first large-scale synthetic graphite production plant in North America.

But soon, it won’t be the only location in the area, with the company making plans to expand near Enterprise South.

While the company says they’ve made major environmental efforts, some residents say building a plant by the nature park would ruin it.

Inside the NOVONIX Riverside plant, raw materials like petroleum coke move through the first stages of production.

The material is then ground and shaped into a fine powder smaller than the diameter of a human hair…
