Bradley County Schools recently held a professional learning session for school counselors. The focus was on integrating Career & Technical Education (CTE) from Kindergarten through Job (K–J). The event took place in Bradley County, Tennessee. Counselors and CTE staff discussed ways to connect academic pathways with student interests and career options. Topics included expanding career exploration in elementary grades, using interest and aptitude assessments, and improving middle and high school CTE programs. These programs include Industry Credentialing, Dual Enrollment, and Dual Credit. The session highlighted the role of counselors in preparing students for life after graduation.
At Michigan Avenue Elementary, kindergarten students took part in a STEAM/Project-Based Learning (PBL) challenge. They designed and built a shelter for the playground, following the engineering process from brainstorming to construction. The project aimed to build creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. It showed how early exposure to STEAM and PBL can help students develop engineering skills early in their education.
