Early Morning Fire at Downtown Chattanooga Apartment Displaces Residents and Sends Two to Hospital

A two-alarm fire occurred in the early hours of December 7, 2025, at a high-rise apartment building at 500 W Martin Luther King Boulevard in Downtown Chattanooga. The fire began in the trash chute and caused smoke on several floors. Firefighters from multiple units, along with Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS, responded to the scene. They worked to ventilate the building and evacuate residents.

Two residents were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was treated at the scene for exhaustion.
