Grand jury indicts truck driver for deadly Mother’s Day interstate crash in East Ridge

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. — A truck driver already facing charges in a deadly Mother’s Day insterstate crash in East Ridge has now been indicted by a Hamilton County Grand Jury.

The indictment charges 66-year-old Joseph Antoinier on three counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of reckless aggravated assault, according to court records.

The Florida truck driver was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer that slammed into several vehicles on northbound I-75 on May 12th, killing three people, including an infant, and injuring several others.

The East Ridge crash prompted emergency closures on the interstate and drew scrutiny over trucking practices and roadway safety. Tennessee Department of Transportation crews later assessed the site to determine whether infrastructure changes were needed.

Antoinier was initially charged in June with multiple counts related to the fatalities and injuries. He is contracted through Valparaiso Trucking Corp. and was hauling for Amazon at the time of the crash…
