Social media can be the worst, but sometimes, it delivers, especially when it unites us in hating Tennessee. Yesterday, a clip of an elementary school holiday concert in Chattanooga went viral. Why? A young Georgia fan in the back row refused to participate when the students performed “Rocky Top.”
Even those who don’t cheer for the Bulldogs can relate to the boy, who stands his ground, arms crossed, head shaking, and lips pursed, as his classmates dutifully sing the Tennessee fight song. He is all of us as he looks at the kids to the left and right of him and says, “Nope.” The look of utter disgust as the song hits the “Woo!”? Been there, done that so many times. I’m sure that kid will, too, during Georgia vs. Tennessee games for the rest of his life…
