Man faces over 10 charges after throwing trash cans, Chattanooga police say

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A man is behind bars and facing 13 charges after police say he threw trash cans into the road and hurled garbage at cars in Chattanooga Saturday evening.

An arrest report we obtained says officers were called to the intersection of East 6th Street and Market street just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday. It says multiple people had called reporting that a man had been digging through trash can, throwing trash at moving cars, and yelling at people as he went down Market Street.

The man, later identified as George Atchley, was still on the scene when officers arrived. The report says dozens of witnesses pointed him out to the officers. It also says police found three city trashcans in road, spread between 6th Street and 8th Street…
