Chattanooga woman credited with saving neighbors during East Ridge apartment fire

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. — Two months ago, a fire tore through building 800 at Germantown Gardens Apartments in East Ridge, displacing at least 20 residents.

Krystal Davis, one of those residents, says she considers herself lucky to have escaped with her dog, Barkley, and to have helped alert her neighbors in the middle of the night.

“It was 4:20 in the morning, so everybody was asleep,” Davis said. “I went door to door to wake people up. If it wasn’t for Barkley going to the back of the complex, I would have never known what was happening.”…
