Increased ICE enforcement in Tennessee drives construction worker shortages

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Hard hats remain at construction sites across Chattanooga, but some of the workers who wear them do not, as increased immigration enforcement creates ripple effects throughout the construction industry.

Construction experts say fear of Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity is keeping workers away from job sites, affecting projects beyond those directly targeted by enforcement actions.
