CommonSpirit says Cigna rejected proposals, prompting out-of-network shift for patients

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — CommonSpirit Health says they failed to reach a new contract agreement with Cigna, a dispute that could affect in-network access to care for thousands of patients across Tennessee and North Georgia.

According to CommonSpirit, negotiations with Cigna to renew its commercial insurance contract have been ongoing, but the health system says Cigna has rejected all proposals presented so far.

As a result, CommonSpirit facilities and providers will no longer be considered in-network for patients enrolled in Cigna Open Access Plus and Cigna Local Plus plans…
