Tennessee bill would let EMS stations install Safe Haven Baby Boxes for newborn surrenders

BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — A bill introduced in the Tennessee House looks to add EMS stations to the list of available locations where infants can safely be surrendered.

The legislation would expand the state’s Safe Haven Law, which allows mothers to surrender their unharmed newborns at designated facilities within 45 days of birth without fear of prosecution.

In our viewing area, there are Safe Haven Baby Box drop off locations at fire stations in Chattanooga, East Ridge, and Athens.
