Chattanooga to honor manager’s retirement after 37 years at Shepherd Community Center

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — After 37 years of service, Chattanooga’s Department of Community Development is honoring the retirement of Ivy Y. Strickland, who spent her entire career at the Shepherd Community Center.

Strickland is being honored for decades of work mentoring youth, supporting families and helping create a welcoming space for residents of all ages.

During her tenure, Strickland and her colleagues helped establish the city’s first children’s camp under the recreation division, laying the foundation for youth programming that continues to benefit generations of Chattanooga residents…
