Dave’s Hot Chicken Serves Up Spice and Fries in Gigantic Portions

In May of 2017, three 20-somethings with $900 and a fryer set up a pop-up chicken stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. Over 8 years later, Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants have spread like wildfire across the country. On October 5, 2025, the company launched their first Tennessee Location in the Hamilton Place area.

The walls and ceiling inside are covered in vibrant graffiti-style art, making for a very unique street vibe that harkens back to the restaurant’s parking lot beginnings.

I opted to order the Dave’s Number Three Combo, which was a slider and a single tender with a healthy heaping of fries. The words “slider” and “tender” used here are very modest, as the slider is actually a full-sized chicken sandwich, and the tenders are the same size as the chicken on the sliders. The breading on the chicken was nice and crispy with a really nice mouthfeel to it. The chicken itself was really tender, and was very pleasant to eat…
