West Star Aviation launches $32M hangar project to transform Chattanooga MRO Hub

West Star Aviation has officially broken ground on a massive expansion of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) campus at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. The project, which represents a nearly $32 million investment, will expand the facility to 400,000 square feet by its scheduled completion in February 2027.

The expansion directly addresses a surging volume of customer maintenance needs. West Star is adding significant capacity across two major areas of its campus to improve service for larger business aircraft. The new Hangar 26 will provide 40,000 square feet of hangar space, bolstered by 15,000 square feet of office and shop facilities. This area will feature climate-controlled storage for aircraft interiors, an overhead crane, and dedicated fire-rated document rooms to enhance safety and efficiency.

In addition to the new construction, West Star is expanding Hangar 27 with a two-story, 30,000-square-foot addition. This footprint will centralize critical departments—including the Accessories, Composite, and Sheetmetal shops—to streamline communication and reduce aircraft downtime…
