Convicted killer in Chattanooga sentenced to decades of prison time for other convictions

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — A convicted murderer in Chattanooga will spend decades more behind bars on top of the life sentence he is already serving for the 2016 killing of a Chattanooga mother and key witness.

Andre Grier was previously sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the murder of Bianca Horton. Prosecutors said Horton was targeted because she was set to testify against one of Grier’s fellow gang members.

On Monday, Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Boyd Patterson sentenced Grier to an additional 62 years in prison for conspiracy to commit first degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping. The sentence will run consecutively to his life sentence for murder.

During the sentencing hearing, a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office corrections deputy testified about a search of Grier’s jail cell.
